About :: Our Founder and Lead Instructor
What is the Maat Institute?
Origins of Our Name and Logo

Ms. Erickson has been teaching meditation for eleven years, and meditating daily herself for twenty-four. The chakra and energy work that forms the foundation for her classes and private sessions is adapted from many different energy healing and spiritual traditions, including Vajrayana Buddhism, kundalini yoga, shamanism, Taoism, gnostic Christianity, and the work of energy healer Cyndi Dale, with whom she continues to study. Ms. Erickson is also a certified mindfulness meditation instructir, holds a black belt in Shotokan karate, and has studied astrology, Chinese medicine, the Enneagram, and many other energy-based modalities. She incorporates a knowledge of these into all of her work.

Currently Ms. Erickson's work focuses on the chakras, primarily through guided chakra meditation work. Her specialty is women’s energetics, and on helping women to heal their subtle bodies, navigate the energetic shifts that occur along with major life passages, and awaken to the divine feminine. She also works with karmic clearing and energetic patterns that inform our spiritual development. She writes on many of these topics at her popular blog Mommy Mystic, including offering a free e-book on sexual trauma and abuse healing, and a DailyOM women's energetics course.

Ms. Erickson has also studied Buddhism extensively, and writes about it weekly as the Buddhism site editor for BellaOnline.com, the largest non-commerical women’s website on the web.

For 15 years, Ms. Erickson worked as a technology consulting executive for Fortune 500 companies such as PepsiCo, Pfizer, KPMG and Warner Bros. She drew on this experience to develop her REAL corporate meditation, and incorporated the latest research on stress management and the brain. Although these classes are less of a focus for her at this time, they are still offered through The Maat Institute.

Ms. Erickson’s public classes focus on meditation and energy work as a tool for personal growth and spiritual exploration. They utilize techniques and explore themes found in the mystic branches of all the world’s religions. Private sessions are also available for guided meditation and energy work instruction.

In addition to her online writings and teaching schedule, Ms. Erickson also reviews many books on meditation, spirituality, chakras, energy medicine, Buddhism and related topics, all of which you can view in her Amazon Store.
