What is the Maat Institute?
Founder and Lead Instructor
Maat (pronounced Muh-aht) is the Ancient Egyptian representation of truth, justice and order. Although usually depicted as a goddess (see left), Maat is more properly the guiding principle of truth. The Maat Insitute’s logo is partially derived from the Egyptian symbol for Maat, an ostrich feather, taken from the headdress of the goddess. This feather itself represents the highest forms of truth. In our logo, this feather is displayed in a circle to form a sun, a universal symbol of light and power.
The Maat Institute is dedicated to helping individuals pursue truth directly, through their own personal inquiry. We believe meditation is a powerful tool anyone can use to pursue psychological, spiritual or universal truth.
